iPhone 5 Specs
iPhone 5 Specs and Features
Since the first iPhone was launched by Apple, it has been a market leader in best-selling phones. In fact, it was that new iPhone that created the market for smart phones in the world. The success of the iPhone made Apple launch updates and new models one after another to keep their customers keenly interested in their product. Some would say that the launch of Android smart phones has taken the market lead away from Apple, and it may be true if we take all Android phones as one product, but the fact of the matter is that all the Android phones are not one product and even today iPhone remains to be the single best-selling phone in the world.
According to many experts, this lead has much to do with the successful business strategy of Apple, which was first laid out under the dynamic leadership of Steve Jobs, but has been carried well on even after his sad demise. It was Steve Jobs who decided that there would be only a single phone product from Apple and they would not divide the market by launching multiple products at the same time like is done by their competitors in HTC, Samsung, Nokia and all other smart phone manufacturing corporations. Not only this, but Apple has also managed to keep the customers on their toes by continuously launching upgrades and newer models of the iPhone every once in a while. No other mobile manufacturing company has been able to dwell on such a successful marketing capturing strategy.
Since the launch of the iPhone 4, customers have been looking forward to the launch of the future iPhone. In 2011, there were a lot of rumours that the next model after iPhone 4 would be in fact the iPhone 5. Many blogs and sites covering tech stuff were filled with claims that the iPhone 5 was coming out shortly. But then there was a leak by a source located at Foxconn, which is the company responsible for manufacturing the iPhone 4 for Apple. According to the source at Foxconn, the next model was just an upgrade on the iPhone 4 as Apple was not ready to launch a new model at that time. Time proved that this Foxconn lead was exactly right and Apple delivered the iPhone 4S in the later part of 2011. Now again, there are a lot of rumours echoing in the market that the iPhone 5 is about to be launched in the near future.
The Foxconn lead has also confirmed that Apple is in fact working on a new phone and therefore, the hype about the launch of the iPhone 5 is basically spot on. The hype though is not only concentrated on whether or not a new model will be launched, but people have started wondering about the new iPhone 5 specifications. There are dedicated sites and blogs that are loaded with predictions about the new iPhone 5 design, features and specifications. But a few of them are irrationally rooted; most of their content being inspired by futuristic ideas out of science fiction based movies or novels. Don’t believe everything that you read.
Additional phone specifications
However, now we have additional information from the same Foxconn source on the new iPhone 5 specifications and iPhone 5 features. According to this source, several iPhone 5 prototypes have been made and are currently under test and evaluation. The source tells us that the new iPhone 5 devices are essentially different from their predecessors, iPhone 4 and 4S. There is news that at least one of the iPhone 5 prototypes has been made by the Korean giant LG for Apple Corporation.
To start with the expected iPhone 5 specs, we must first begin with the display. According to the lead, the new iPhone 5 prototypes all have a larger display. Out of at least 4 prototypes, there is reportedly not a single proposed model with a display size less than 4 inches. Currently, the iPhone 4 and 4S have a display size of 3.5 inches, so the iPhone 5 will have a much larger display than the present day Apple solutions. There are also suggestions that the front of the iPhone 5 will be all screen from corner to corner with no space lost on the edges. The lead also says that the screen resolution of the new iPhone will be even better than the current versions.
Next in the iPhone 5 specifications comes the operating system and processing power of the unit. The new model of the iPhone is expected to be based on the Apple OS5, with some considerable upgrades and improvements from its predecessor operating systems. The processor in the iPhone 5 is expected to be an A5 with dual core capacities and an improved CPU. This processor is already employed in the iPad 2 and it will have a processing speed of about 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz, which is considerably more than the present day versions. So, the new iPhone 5 can be expected to have much more processing power.
iPhone 5 features, an improved camera
Another improvement in the iPhone 5 specs will be an improved camera. It was suggested that the new iPhone 5 will have an 8MP camera with 1080p video recording. But since Apple has put this in the iPhone 4S, we are more likely to see a 12MP camera in future iPhone 5s. But again, these are just speculations. Apple might actually stick with the 8MP camera. However, records suggest that Apple has registered many 3D patents; therefore the iPhone 5 might come with some 3D capabilities. The flash is also reported to be improved as it will feature a dual LED flash configuration. The front camera will also be standard for video chat and video calls.
Other speculated iPhone 5 features include things such as iCloud, which according to the reports will come standard with the iPhone 5. This will allow iPhone 5 users to store songs and videos without having to store them in their phone. There are also reports of an iPhone mini or iPhone nano, which will be a small phone device with minimal storage, but would provide some of the advanced features of the iPhone 5. Within this page we will keep you updated when there is news about the latest iPhone 5 specs.
